--- Location: Vancouver, WA (10 miles north of Portland, OR)
--- Travel/Schedule: You generally will work standard day-shift
hours Mon-Fri; minimal travel
--- Compensation: Target base salary -$125K - $170K+
o Bonuses/Additional Compensation: Relocation / sign-on bonus is
available; you also will participate in the company's Annual Bonus
Plan (generally -5%-10%)

Position Description: As the V P of Operations, you will oversee
and strategically plan for and lead all production operations,
including prefab, fabrication, blasting/painting, assembly, and
shipping. This position supervises multiple managers across two
shifts; and ensures organization, work methods, scheduling, cost
control, adherence to specifications, quality workmanship, safety
standards, and assignment of work. T
he VP of Ops works onsite during normal operating hours to organize
and complete work within given deadlines. Some other specific
responsibilities include:
--- Collaborate with senior leadership to align shop operations
with organizational goals and strategies.
--- Review project-specific build plans developed collaboratively
by project managers and production managers.
--- Periodically analyze the backlog for bottlenecks; resolve in
collaboration with executive team.
--- Ensure facility and equipment maintenance is sufficient for
both safe and efficient operations.
--- Develop, review, and maintain budgets to forecast and control
shop-related overhead costs, ensuring alignment with organizational
financial goals.
--- Ensure the success of direct reports through effective
leadership and support.
--- Oversee and strategically manage production operations and
timely delivery through managers.
--- Ensure quality production at maximum productivity and lowest
cost.
--- Oversee the development of requirements for manufacturing
equipment and material at various production levels, ensuring
alignment with operational and budgetary goals.
--- Cooperate with other department heads to maintain operational
efficiency.
--- Demonstrate effective leadership through successful employee
selection, performance evaluation, and minimizing turnover.
--- Anticipate or investigate production delays and inadequate work
performance, taking corrective action within established
policies.
--- Make effective recommendations regarding equipment,
maintenance, and personnel.
--- Collaborate with the President and executive team on critical
problems and strategic initiatives.
--- Ensure the implementation and adherence to company policies and
programs, driving organizational success.
--- Evaluate employee performance for direct reports in terms of
safety, quality, productivity, and attendance. Initiate training
and corrective actions as needed.
--- Communicate regularly with other department supervisors and
employees.
--- Conduct meetings to exchange information and keep direct
reports informed of progress and opportunities for improvement.
--- Oversee the strategic planning of shop space layout to optimize
project flow and prevent space constraints, in cooperation with the
executive team.
--- Be available as a consulting resource to Estimators and
participate in bid reviews of critical projects.
In order to be successful in this role, you must have 8+ years of
experience in steel fabrication or similar heavy industrial
environments, with a focus on operational management, leadership
and strategic planning. You should have proven leadership in
managing fabrication environments, with expertise in planning,
scheduling, and overseeing multi-phase structural steel and plate
fabrication projects, while ensuring compliance with contract
specifications. Strong familiarity with fabrication processes; such
as, material processing, fitting, welding, shop assembly,
handling/logistics, blasting, and painting is needed, and
familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and working in a
union environment is a plus. You obviously must also be proficient
with Microsoft Office Suite and related software; ability to
quickly learn the organization's ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning
program).
