Thurston CountyThis position may be eligible for telework. The
default assigned work location of all WDFW positions - both on-site
and telework-eligible positions - are within the State of
Washington. Frequency of onsite work will vary based on business
and operational needs.Come manage the day-to-day tactical personnel
and technical resources for WDFW.Be responsible for the Security
Architecture which supports threat detection, incident response,
security baseline management, vulnerability identification, patch
management, and risk assessments for Agency IT assets and State
Level Security design reviews.This is an opportunity to identify,
engineer, plan, and deploy security solutions through the design,
implementation, operation, and maintenance phases of IT systems.You
thrive on building collaboration and teamwork, working together
with all IT staff to improve the security of our existing
information technology infrastructure and services.We are seeking a
candidate to provide application security, system, and services
management, maintenance, and support with an emphasis on a high
level of availability.DutiesHere are some things you will be doing
in this role,Cybersecurity Operations Team Management:
- Manages the Cybersecurity personnel priorities and projects to
ensure strategic agency goals are being met by ensuring the
development of cost-effective cybersecurity solutions. This
includes review and approval of best fit commercial off the shelf
solutions as well as providing expert technical oversight for in
house developed solutions.
- Leads the Cybersecurity team in the development, deployment,
testing, and business process development of agency level security
initiatives that span multiple IT units and potentially affect
agency wide business operations.
- Work in close coordination with Agency business partners to
ensure minimal impacts to business operations in relation to the
deployment of emerging security technical controls.Cybersecurity
Architecture:
- Defines architectural standards for Cybersecurity Engineer
activities by providing expert analysis and mentorship to
subordinate personnel. Makes technical and architectural decisions
related to Cybersecurity Operations.
- Completes Washington State Office of Cybersecurity (OCS) Design
Review documentation. Coordinates internal agency assets to gather
Design Review information.
- Analyzes WDFW vulnerability assessment reports to determine
agency risk. Conducts risk assessments of WDFW systems, researches
remediation actions as needed.Cybersecurity Incident Response Team:
- Acts as the tactical leader for the Cybersecurity Incident
Response Team by providing input on incident classification and
performing incident response actions appropriate to the nature of
the incident (identify, locate, quarantine, remediate, recover)
through the analysis of network and system logs to determine attack
and threat vectors.
- Leads other incident response team members to respond and
recover.
- Participates in after action reviews for incidents and uses
this information for continuous improvement.
- Provide Cybersecurity oversight for Disaster Recovery and
Continuity of Operations (DR/COOP).WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work Setting, including hazards:
- Office setting, but may be required to work in tight
spaces.
- Also works in data closets and datacenter.
- Schedule:
- Typically, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
- Travel Requirements:
- Some travel may be required to regional and other remote
offices.
- Tools and Equipment:
- Hand tools and networking equipment.
- Customer Interactions:
- WDFW staff, WaTech, telco providers and
vendors.QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or equivalent
experience (i.e. four (4) years of IT experience).And
- Four (4) or more years of recent experience (within the last 6
years) working in a medium to large organization providing
cybersecurity related technical support.And
- Six (6) or more years of recent experience (within the last 6
years) with cybersecurity risk assessment methodologies (NIST,
HITECH, RMF).And
- Six (6) or more years of recent IT experience (within the last
6 years) including vulnerability scanning, risk assessments, and
incident response.Special Requirement/Condition of Employment:
- Must pass fingerprint and background check due to working with
law enforcement and sensitive data.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:In
addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will
also have some or all of the following:
- Experience working in cloud-based environments such as AWS and
Azure.
- Experience operating and analyzing logging and monitoring
systems, antivirus solutions, and security configurations.
- Certification(s) in:
- CISSP.
- Network Certification(s).
