Job Description:
Our team is seeking a tax manager who is passionate about
driving our veterinary practice specialty, in addition to
delivering a top notch client experience and skillfully managing
internal projects. The ideal team member is a confident leader for
both clients and staff. You will have the opportunity to be
involved in business development as well as managing and fostering
client relationships. You will also play a significant role in
developing, training, and coaching staff. We want our new team
member to be excited about being at a growing and developing firm.
If you want the same day to day responsibilities with the
expectation you can predict what is needed of you tomorrow, next
week, next month, this may not be the right fit. To excel at our
firm and to find lasting satisfaction in doing so, these traits
should resonate with you:
- Organized: You know how to keep track of multiple projects,
tasks, documents, and files, follow up on loose ends, and can
readily locate a document or provide a status update.
- Communicative: You are a confident and transparent communicator
in every aspect with expert written, verbal, and interpersonal
communication skills.
- Service-minded: You demonstrate a desire to deliver a superior
customer experience and you don't mind taking out the trash, both
literally and figuratively.
- Eager: You enjoy working with a small but growing team of
passionate professionals committed to changing the perception of
how an accounting firm operates.
- Practical: You are more process driven than code head and can
continuously weigh the cost/benefit both internally and with
clients.
- Valuable: You are able to quantify the value you bring to
clients and you are willing to defend that when questioned.
- Proactive: You're always one step ahead because you're an
analytical thinker and can anticipate potential problems and needs,
allowing you to be more efficient and provide better
solutions.
- Mentor: You take pride in coaching and managing a team of young
professionals.
- Innovative: You scour tax articles and other news sources with
the intent of discovering and implementing new ideas and
solutions.
- Self-Aware: You know your audience and can expertly deliver the
right message on the right platform-in person, phone, email, Slack,
LinkedIn, carrier pigeon, or fax (well---only for the IRS).
- Above all else - HUSTLE: We enjoy working hard and reaping the
benefits. Let's acknowledge that public accounting is not an easy
field, but it can be thoroughly enjoyable and challenging.Other
important things to bring to the table:
- Experience preparing, reviewing (maybe approving?) tax returns
and workpaper files.
- Experience billing clients, time tracking, and justifying
value.
- Experience working with veterinary practices, or other medical
fields.
- CPA license, EA certification, or CPA eligible with 4+ years of
public accounting experience, including tax return preparation and
review.
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related degree
and/or an advanced degree in Accounting or Taxation.
- Ability to work extra hours during tax season and extension
season.
- References from prior employers/supervisors/clients.What we
offer:
- Salary Range: $95,000-$135,000 (based on experience and
ultimate expectations agreed upon by employee and the
company).
- Casual office environment.
- Ability to work remotely a few days a week.
- 22 Vacation days established via vacation "bank"--you use it or
lose it. We want all employees to take all allotted vacation days
every year.
- 10 Holidays (6 scheduled and 4 floating).
- 40 Hours sick leave (same "bank" mentioned above).
- 2 Paid volunteer days (at least 1 of which we do as a
team).
- 401k Retirement, with 3% employer contribution and 2% profit
share minimum with additional discretionary amounts added for
performance exceeding expectations.
- Medical and dental benefits.
- Optional cell phone coverage.
- Certification, licensing, and professional membership
reimbursement.
- Continuing education and growth opportunities.Who we are:If you
were to ask any of us what we do, we would tell you that we do the
things that people can't or don't want to do. It might seem a
little broad, but if you think about it, it really gets down to the
root of who we are and why we're here (taxes). But we're also about
more than public accounting--when it comes to serving our clients,
we set ourselves apart by going beyond putting numbers on a page.
And the three qualities or "uniques" that truly define us are 1.
Entrepreneurial, 2. Proactive, and 3. No bullshit. Seriously. We
are #taxnerds and proud of it!Sound interesting? Send us your
resume!
